What should I bring?
You'll spend your days in bathing suits and casual wear, shorts, t-shirts and polos and you'll need sunglasses. Most of the time, you won't wear shoes at all whilst on board Anticia but you will need a pair of deck shoes or sandals to wear on shore. In winter a sweatshirt or sweater is advisable. We provide all the towels that you'll need, including beach towels.
What travel documents are required?
All visitors need to bring a passport.
How do I get to the boat?
Taxis are readily available from the airport. The cost for one way in a taxi is approximately $30.00. Anticia is docked at the Nassau Harbour Club. If your arrival at Nassau is delayed, you can advise us by calling (001) 242-424-9686.
What time can we board?
Boarding time is as agreed, but if possible, as early in the morning of your first day as possible. We return to Nassau either the afternoon before or on the morning of your departure, depending on your flight times and other arrangements.
Do we actually sail?
Yes, as often as the wind blows in the right direction. The best time for sailing is from October to April. During the period from May to September there is less wind. We are always delighted if our guests wish to participate in handling Anticia under sail and Captain Chris will be pleased to instruct if you are interested (Click here). Or you can just lay back and relax in the sun!
What will the food be like?
Each party is asked to complete Anticia’s “Preference Form” so that we can tailor the food on board to the tastes of your group. Anticia is provisioned before the start of the charter and it is unlikely that we will have the opportunity to add to stores during the trip, apart from what we catch ourselves. Some produce that you may be used to at home may not be available in the Bahamas – it is important that you let us know about any special favorites on the Preference Form, so that we can check out its availability, and let you know if you’ll need to bring it with you.
Charterers opting for a Fully Inclusive Charter will be served three meals a day, as well as snacks and fresh fruits. Fresh fish or lobster is also served, in season. Most meals served will be a combination of local and international cuisine. Please click here to see a sample menu.
Can I fish?
Yes, as long as you aren't in the Exumas Land and Sea Park - all fishing gear is provided free of charge. Fishing for the Spiny Lobster or Crawfish is prohibited during the Closed Season (1 April – 31 July).
What money do I need?
The currency in the Bahamas is the Bahamian dollar, which is par with the US dollar. They are used inter-changeably. If you have US dollars, there is no need to change currency.
What is the recommended gratuity?
The live-aboard business is a service industry - few other recreational activities rely so heavily upon the professionals in charge for your enjoyment and safety. Besides being at the mercy of Mother Nature, the quality of your experience is based on the person(s) who provide it. We strongly believe that gratuities should be voluntary and based upon the quality of the service the crew provides. If you are disappointed with the service, you should inform the Captain of your feelings and leave no more gratuity than you feel is right, the accepted norm for the live-aboard business being 10%-20%. The gratuity can be given to the Captain at the end of the week.
Can I snorkel?
Yes, anytime the boat is anchored. Mask, fins, and snorkels are all provided, free of charge.
Can I scuba dive?
If you are a qualified Open Water Diver (or more) and you are accompanied by a diving buddy you can use Anticia’s scuba gear. You will need to bring your own wetsuits with you. Please Contact Us to check out the details.
Will I see sharks?
Most of our guests will see sharks. Typically, we see Caribbean Reef Sharks and Nurse Sharks. Let us know if there is anything you especially want to do or see on your charter and we will plan it into the trip wherever possible.
Do you have a DVD Player?
Yes, we have a 22" flat screen with DVD player, stereo system and CD player. We can connect your Ipod to our stereo system, if you wish.
What if I need to be contacted in an emergency?
If someone needs to get in contact with you due to a true emergency, they should contact us by calling (001) 242-424-9686 or e-mailing admin@bahamascatamarancharters.com. This should only be done if it is a real emergency. The calling areas of the remote out islands of the Bahamas are extremely limited and it may not be possible to pick up voicemail messages or e-mails for a few days.
Do I have to start my vacation in Nassau?
No, but as Nassau is Anticia's home port we would have to charge a relocation fee. Please contact us to discuss this fee.
